Penguins roll the dice and win in AC over Devils

It was the WBS Penguins taking on the Albany Devils this afternoon in Atlantic City at Board Walk Hall. The WBS Penguins coming off a Llosa last night to the Utica Comets who scored in the third period to pull ahead of the Pens. Today’s game seemed to follow the same pattern as last nights game but with a better outcome for WBS.

Devils get the first power play of the game but the WBS penalty kill does a nice job of killing it off keeping this a scoreless game early on in the first period.

Adam Payerl and Dan Kelly do a dance Kelly drawing an extra minor giving the pens a power play and a chance to open the scoring, Chuck Kobasew would get goal number one for the Pens giving them the lead in the first period.

Penguins get a good opening in the second. Lots of action getting some shots on net but Kinkaid sees them coming and keeps it a one goal spread.

Albany gets a few chances to even things up during the second period on the power play but the WBS penalty kill does a great job of killing all the power plays Albany gets. At the end if the second period the WBS Penguins still held a one to none lead.

42 seconds into the third Albany evens it up at one off the face off beating Deslauriers off the hop. Albany would go ahead 2-1 on a turnover by the Penguins at center ice, Darcy Zajac would come in on Deslauriers put it on net JDD getting a part of it but the puck eludes Deslauriers and makes its way into the net.

With just 64 seconds left in regulation Brendan Mikkleson gets one past Keith Kinkaid making it a 2-2 game. That would be where regulation ends, pushing this afternoon's game into overtime.

Jayson Megna and Chuck Kobasew combine on a breakaway to score the OT game winning goal to push the Penguins past the Devils 3-2. This would make 5 goals for Chuck Kobasew in the last 4 games for the WBS Penguins, a very nice start for him here in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
