Blazers waste little time getting camp underway
The Kamloops Blazers wasted little time in getting things started at Day one of camp. Rookies had an early morning practice session and followed that up with a pair evening scrimmages. While twenty-six players from the Blazers main camp also hit the ice for their official practice of training camp.

Kamploops - August 24, 2013 - Rookie camp has begun and 59 players have been divided into four teams. After a morning practice, there were two evening scrimmages that concluded Day 1.

The main camp players also took to the ice for their first official practice on Friday. In total, 22 skaters and four goaltenders participated in the practice. The main camp players will practice once again Saturday from 3:15pm – 4:45pm.

Jack Campbell, the Dallas Stars first round pick 11th overall in the 2010 NHL Draft, was one of the goaltenders on the ice during main camp practice.

Campbell played junior hockey for the Windsor Spitfires and Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds of the OHL. The 21-year-old netminder also played on the USA World Junior team winning a Gold Medal in 2010 over Canada in Saskatoon

In the first scrimmage, Team Iginla won the first half as Nick Chyzowski (2nd round, 2012) scored the lone goal in a 1-0 shutout. Connor Ingram (Free Agent) shut the door in the 25 minute first half for Team Iginla.

In the second half of the first scrimmage, Team Recchi won 2-0. Deven Sideroff (List player) and Jermaine Loewen (3rd round, 2013) scored the goals for Team Recchi. Dylan Ferguson (8th round, 2013) shut the door in the 25 minute period.

In the second scrimmage, Team Sydor and Team Doan tied the first half of the game. Jesse Zaharichuk (List player) tallied for Team Doan and Adam Tisdale (Free Agent) had the lone goal for Team Sydor.

In the second half, Team Doan won the affair by a 2-1 score. Josh Beaudry (Free Agent) of Lumsden, SK scored both goals for Team Doan. Adam Tisdale (Free Agent) had the goal for Team Sydor.
